Great Barrier Reef - Australia

Diving the Great Barrier Reef has always been on my bucket list. Charles and I booked a liveaboard dive trip, which basically means you live on the boat and dive as often as possible. From Kangaroo Island we took a ferry and a couple of flights to get up to Cairns, where our boat would embark from.

Cairns seemed like a cool town, and I kind of regret not booking more time there. But our dive trip was really incredible. We had 11 dives in 3 days, and spent 2 nights sleeping on the boat in a tiny tiny cabin in bunk beds. We'd never done a liveaboard before, and it was both wonderful and exhausting. I slept between almost every dive we did!

We also did our first night dives. We didn't get any video from the night dives since it's too dark (duh!) but I can tell you we saw sea turtles as big as small cars hiding beneath bommies.

It was strange to be jumping in the water at 6:30 in the morning and at 7:30 after the sun had gone down. We both really enjoyed ourselves! Here's some video from the dives, showing the best of the stuff we saw!

To watch the video in a decent resolution, please go to the gear in the lower-right corner of the Youtube video and select 1080px or higher, otherwise it will look blurry!

Here are a few still photos from our dive adventures!
